This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the Writers in the Schools (“WITS”) website, www.witshou.wpengine.com and any related mobile apps (the “Site”). To make this notice easy to find, we make it available on our homepage and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

This Policy may be changed from time to time to reflect changes in our practices concerning the collection and use of personal information.  The revised policy will be effective immediately upon posting to our Site.

We collect personal information from you in various ways, including when you visit the Site, interact with our team, or apply for a position with us.  On some pages of the Site, you can register for events, make requests, and volunteer for specific program initiatives. The Way We Use Information

  • We use the information you provide about yourself for specific events/programs to fulfill the needs of that event/program. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete that process.

  • We use your email address to send periodic emails to notify you of news and events. We do not share your email address with third parties. If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email.

  • We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.

  • We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our Site.

Our Commitment To Data Security

We have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Of course, please exercise discretion in sending us your information, as data security protections cannot protect your information with certainty.

Our Commitment To Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information on our Site from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our Site is structured to attract anyone under 13.  In the event that we learn that a child under the age of 13 has provided information on our Site, we will delete that information as soon as possible.

Under California Civil Code sections 1798.83-1798.84, California residents are entitled to ask us for a notice describing what categories of personal customer information we share with third parties or corporate affiliates for those third parties or corporate affiliates’ direct marketing purposes.
