The Development Director serves as the strategic leader of WITS’ revenue efforts, overseeing contributed income and partnering with the Executive Director to align earned and contributed revenue strategies.
This role is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising plan; cultivating major donor and institutional relationships; activating board engagement in fundraising; and building systems that strengthen long-term financial sustainability.
The Development Director is both relational and analytical—comfortable cultivating major gifts while also managing pipeline forecasting, revenue tracking, and strategic planning.

WITS Writers are professional writers, poets, spoken word artists, and all those who share their love of creative writing instruction. Writers engage in long and short-term residencies in K-12 schools paired with the classroom teacher to bring creative experiences to students. Writers also lead writing residencies in community spaces such as libraries, hospitals, community centers, and after-school programs. Residencies generally culminate in year-end student publications to memorialize and celebrate student work. WITS Writers are part-time, contract employees. Applicants should have school day availability (8am-4pm) during the school year.
WITS accepts applications on a rolling basis throughout the school year. Hiring is primarily done in September for the school year and February for the Summer.
As a Creative Writing Camp Summer Intern, you’ll play a hands-on role in shaping the next generation of young writers. You’ll assist lead instructors with engaging writing workshops, guide students in brainstorming and developing their creative ideas, and help create a positive and inspiring learning environment. Interns will also support classroom management, prepare materials for daily activities, and take part in fun, interactive lessons designed to spark creativity.
Beyond working with students, interns will gain valuable experience in mentorship, teamwork, and event coordination, all while building connections with fellow interns, professional writers, and educators. Whether you're leading small groups, assisting with storytelling exercises, or organizing exciting writing games, you'll be making a meaningful impact while honing your own communication and leadership skills.
